Automated Alt Text for Images

Overview

We are excited to announce the release of a new feature that simplifies the process of creating meaningful alt text for images in your projects. This functionality, powered by OpenAI, automatically generates descriptive alt text for images uploaded to our platform. By ensuring your content is accessible and optimized, this feature saves you time while meeting accessibility standards.

This feature is enabled by default for all accounts. However, if you wish to opt out or have questions, we encourage you to reach out to our support team at support@getfastr.com or contact your account manager directly.

Key Features

Automated Alt Text for New Images - Any new image you upload to the platform will automatically have alt text applied. This ensures immediate accessibility compliance for your content, without needing to make any edits in the platform. 

Alt Text for Swapped Images - When swapping images using the image library, the newly selected image will update to show the correct alt text. 

Alt Text for Existing Images - Images uploaded prior to this feature’s release will not be updated automatically. However, you can apply automated alt text by selecting the image and going to the Design tab. In the section for "Alt Text", you will see this new icon which can apply automated alt text:

1. Does the alt text or image data get used elsewhere?

No, the data generated for alt text is not used to train any AI models or shared outside of this functionality. Your data remains secure and private.

2. Can I opt out of this feature?

Yes, you can opt out at any time. Simply contact our support team at support@getfastr.com to disable this functionality for your account.

3. Can I change the language or tone of the alt text?

Yes, the default language for alt text is English. However, our support team can adjust your accounts settings to generate alt text in other languages. Additionally, we can also use specific prompts to make sure your alt text better aligns with your brand’s voice.
