The Fastr Frontend Dashboard enables you to organize your website experiences effectively by utilizing a structure composed of Pages, Content Slots, and Experiences. Let's break down the dashboard structure:
Dashboard Structure
Pages
Pages are the top level of the organization structure, and these are used to host various experiences related to different sections of your website. For instance, you can create separate pages for Product Landing Pages, Blogs, and Product Detail Pages. Each page will contain only the experiences that will go live on those specific sections. This enables you to find the content you’re looking for quickly even if you don’t remember the experience name. You can also think of your Pages as a folder structure.
Content Slots
Within each page, you can further segregate and organize your experiences by putting them in Content Slots. Just like a website landing page that might contain a Hero Banner, Body and Footer, you can divide your entire Fastr Frontend Page and Experiences into different content slots. Your team can decide on its preferred organizational structure using a combination of pages and content slots.
Experiences
Experiences are the individual pieces of content that will be displayed on your website. Each experience is created using the Experience Canvas and can be managed, published, and updated as needed. For more information on the Experience Canvas, please review the following article: Fastr Frontend Experience Canvas: Overview
Please note that you can only have 1 experience per content slot live on your website. This allows you to create multiple versions of experiences in the same content slot which can easily be replaced on the website without having the need to change code.
Common Management Action
Throughout Pages, Content Slots, and Experiences, there are several actions you can use to manage your content and the organization of your content. To access several of these settings, you can either right click or select the three dots icon which is shown here:
- Add new: You can add new Pages, Content Slots, or Experiences by clicking the “+” button in the relevant section.
- Rename: Change the name of the Page, Content Slot, or Experience.
- Duplicate: Create an exact replica of the Page, Content Slot, or Experience.
- Delete: Remove the Page, Content Slot, or Experience. Deleting a Page or Content Slot will unpublish all live experiences contained within. Please be cautious when using this option, as we can't recover these elements once they have been deleted.
- Reorder: Reorganize the order of your content on the dashboard. You can also reorder your pages by click and dragging the pages.
- Move To: Move content from one location to another. This is useful if you'd like to move an experience to a new content slot, or a content slot to a new page.
Managing Content Slots and Experiences
Each element in the dashboard comes with several specific management options to help you organize your content efficiently.
Content Slots Management
For Content Slots, you have the following additional options:
- Number of Experiences and Last Updated: This is shown next to the Content Slot name and looks something like - "1 Experience, 17 Hours ago" which tells you how many experiences one content slot has and when was the last time an experience was opened / edited.
- Copy Code (on mouse hover): This allows you to copy our JavaScript code which can then be hosted on your website. Any place where this code is placed will start showing the Published or Live Experience inside your content slot.
Experiences Management
Experiences come with the following specific options:
- Publish Experience: Allows you to publish an experience on your website. Once an experience has been published, code can be then hosted on your website for it to be publicly visible. Refer to the Copy Code at Content Slot Level. To learn more about publishing an experience, check out the following article: Fastr Frontend Dashboard: How to publish an Experience – Fastr Community
- Unpublish Experience: After publishing, if you wish to remove an experience from your site without having to remove the code from the site, this option can be utilized. Once an experience has been unpublished, it will no longer be visible on your website regardless of whether the code is present or not. You can then come back at a later point and publish a different experience in that same content slot without having to re-add the content slot code snippet to your website again.
- Publish Updated Experience: After making edits to an experience, you can select this option to push the latest changes to your website. This is a mandate, and no experience will be updated if you have not selected this option.
- Schedule & Experiment: This allows users to schedule an experience to go live at a future date. To learn more about scheduling, check out the following article: Fastr Frontend Dashboard: How to schedule an Experience – Fastr Community
- Open Experience in a new tab: As also signified by the name, this enables you to open the selected experience in a new tab while keeping the Fastr Frontend Dashboard open.
- Copy Experience ID: Selecting this option will copy a unique ID to your clipboard that can be shared with support@getfastr.com for troubleshooting.
- Add as Shared Library: Selecting this option will make the contents of this specific experience added as a Brand Asset. This means all the components, graphics, colors and typographies inside this experience can be used by any other experience to create content.
