Overview
For Fastr Publications, we currently recommend uploading PDFs that use the RGB color space. At this time, PDFs containing RGB images provide the best and most consistent results. Support for CMYK images is planned and will be introduced later this year. This article provides a step-by-step guide on how to convert a CMYK PDF to RGB to ensure optimal results.
Fastr Workspace - How to upload a PDF
Converting CMYK PDF to RGB
To ensure your PDF renders correctly in the Fastr workspace, we recommend converting PDFs to the RGB color space before uploading. If you’re using Adobe Acrobat, you can do this directly through the Print Production tools.
Step 1: Go to the “All Tools” menu
From the main Acrobat interface, click All Tools to view the full set of available features.
Step 2: Open Print Production
Under All Tools, locate and select Use Print Production.
Step 3: Select “Convert Colors”
Inside Print Production, click Convert Colors.
This opens a conversion dashboard where you can change the PDF’s color space.
Step 4: Configure the conversion settings
In the Convert Colors panel, set the options as follows (matching the recommended configuration):
Pages: Select All (or “All Pages”) to ensure the conversion applies to the full document
-
Conversion Profile: Choose sRGB IEC61966-2.1
Step 5: Apply the conversion
Click OK to run the conversion. Acrobat will update the PDF colors based on the selected RGB profile.
Step 6: Save the updated PDF
Finally, save the document:
Go to File → Save As
Save it as a new file name (recommended) so you still have the original version if needed
The PDF is now ready to be uploaded to the workspace and will deliver the best possible results.
